What does SPF actually mean?
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor and indicates how well a sun protection product protects the skin from UVB rays, which cause sunburn. At the same time, it describes how much the skin's own self-protection time is extended. This means: With SPF 30, the skin can theoretically be exposed to the sun about 30 times longer than without protection. However, the actual duration of protection depends on the skin type, UV intensity, and the amount applied.
Important: The SPF refers primarily to UVB rays. For comprehensive protection, UVA protection is also crucial, as these contribute to premature skin aging. All V.SUN products therefore reliably protect against UVA and UVB rays.
Why should you use SPF daily?
UV rays affect the skin all year round – even when it's cloudy or in winter. Daily SPF helps to prevent skin damage, pigment spots, and premature skin aging.
Is SPF in make-up or skincare enough?
Products with integrated SPF offer additional protection, but in most cases they do not replace a full-fledged sunscreen. For reliable protection, it is important to apply sunscreen generously and evenly.
Make-up or skincare products often do not contain sufficient SPF or are not used in the required amount to effectively protect the skin from UV rays. Therefore, it is recommended to always use a dedicated sunscreen as a base.
Which SPF is recommended for everyday use?
For daily use, SPF 30 is generally a good choice, as it reliably protects the skin from UV rays and can be easily integrated into your daily skincare routine.
In cases of intense sun exposure, extended periods spent outdoors, or particularly sensitive skin, a higher sun protection factor such as SPF 50 is recommended for even stronger protection.
Does SPF also protect against skin aging?
Yes. UVA rays, in particular, penetrate deep into the skin and play a significant role in the development of wrinkles and the loss of skin elasticity. Broad-spectrum sun protection therefore protects the skin not only from sunburn but also from premature skin aging.
All V.SUN products offer reliable protection against UVA and UVB rays, helping to keep the skin healthy and cared for in the long term.
Is SPF also suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes, there are specially formulated SPF products that are tailored to the needs of sensitive skin and are particularly well tolerated.
Our Sensitive range deliberately avoids fragrances and is therefore ideal for sensitive skin types. Our Sun Fluid 50 (Perfume Free) in particular stands out for its high tolerability and has been awarded by the German Allergy and Asthma Association.
How often should you reapply SPF?
When exposed to sunlight for long periods, sunscreen should be reapplied regularly, about every two to three hours. This is especially important after swimming, sweating, or towel drying.
